After the repose of St. Seraphim, Fr. Herman was [[defrock|defrocked]] by Old [[ROCOR]] in 1988 when he failed to appear for a canonical trial. Fr. Herman, Fr. [[Damascene (Christensen) of Platina|Damascene]], the current abbot, and others left ROCOR for a [[vagante]] group under Metropolitan Pangratios Vrionis, a [[New Calendarist]] defrocked by [[GOARCH]] after gross criminal convictions.

The monastery later joined the [[ecumenist]] [[Patriarchate of Serbia]].
