Romanus of Lacedaemon was a priest from the village of Deminitza in Lacedaemon (Sparta), Greece. For some reason he moved to Constantinople and was put under heavy pressure to deny his faith in Christ and convert to islam. Father Romanus refuse, and for this he was sentenced to death by beheading. This took place on January 6, 1695.
