Talk:Joseph the Hesychast
Misleading claim
"It should be noted that among the many surviving writings of Elder Joseph himself, no similar sentiments have been found in his first hand expressions. Even the editions published by Elder Ephraim have no such accounts."
The claim in question is being supported by a citation from a book by Elder Ephraim, which makes this wording a bit off. In the strictest possible sense, the surviving writings of Elder Joseph do not give this account in editions published by Elder Ephraim or anyone else, because these are spoken words and not writings.
That is to say, the quote is claimed by Elder Ephraim himself to be a quote from Elder Joseph. Someone who goes down and reads the references would think that he is being outright lied to or at least mislead. I'm rather rephrasing the whole thing to be more open and clear.
