Talk:Great Schism
Frankish thesis
"The pretext of the Filioque controversy was the Frankish acceptance of Augustine as the key to understanding the theology of the First and Second Ecumenical" and related issues. Romanides is not an Orthodox source and St. Augustine is universally accepted as a great Father by the Church both East and West. Although the saint may have mistakes, and although distortions of his teachings prevail in the post-schism West, that does not make him nor the early Franks the cause of the schism. I have similar questions regarding the blame placed on Pat. Balsamon. The whole article needs to be read carefully and corrected where necessary. Eish (talk) 11:27, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
