Paisios (Eznepidis) the Athonite
Elder Paisios of Mount Athos was an Athonite monk of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in the 20th Century. When World Orthodox speak of “Saint Paisios,” he is most often the figure referred to.
He is famous in World Orthodoxy for numerous purported miracles and prophecies, a fame so hyped that True Orthodox generally regard it as fantastical, and even as a delusional elder cult. In contrast the True Orthodox are wary of Fr. Paisios for teaching a false ecclesiology—conservative ecumenism.[1]

You maintain your stance because Elder Paisios said, “Demetrios is misled by the hierarchs around him to do that which he does not want,” and “If we stop commemorating, we will be outside the Church!” and much more, to which can be applied the words of Saint John Chrysostom, “All their words are foolishness, and the tales of foolish children.” These words of theirs are the fruit of a new theology, which the Phanar used in the notorious Encyclical of 1920 by calling heretics “fellow heirs of the grace of God.”
