Talk:Donatism

A note for later (myself or someone else): We should expand a little bit under Modern Usage. The accusation from the WO is being made that we are like the Donatists because we do not accept the Sergianists. This is especially true of Fr. John Whiteford's recent discussion with Fr. Joseph Suaidan where he openly admits that his side are traditors—given of course that the Donatists refused to accept the traditor clergy back. We should clarify this distinction. The traditors came back into the Church when the persecution ended. The Sergianists, on the other hand, also apostatised and handed over what is holy to the theomachist authorities. Old ROCOR had some sympathy for them and frequently held out some hope for some kind of economic grace. After the fall of the USSR, however, the Sergianists unlike the traditors did not return or repent. They doubled down on their apostasy, and that is what the True Orthodox are being told we must embrace. Eish (talk) 12:04, 18 January 2025 (UTC)
