The Sigillion is a term from the Byzantine world that denoted an official document (act) that bears a seal. Documents referred to as a Sigillion were issued by the emperor of the Eastern Roman (Byzantine) Empire, Councils of the Orthodox Church, and the Patriarch of Constantinople.
