The Russian Orthodox Church Abroad (ROCA) is both the alternative name for Old ROCOR (1920-2007) and Official Name of the ROCOR Remnant Successor Jurisdiction known as ROCOR-A or "ROCOR Agafangel (Agafangelites). This Page concerns the current and on going Synod of ROCOR-A under Metropolitan Agafangel Pashkovsky of Odessa. ROCOR-A stems back to 2006 where Bishop Agafangel Pashkovsky, after growing more concerned about Pro Union Views with the Moscow Patriarchate and dissatisfied with the direction of ROCOR under First Hierarch and Metropolitan Laurus Škurla, decided to say he, among some other Bishops and Priests, would become Non Commemorators in response to the significant increase in Dialogue with the Moscow Patriarchate as he, among others whom opposed the Union, saw the increase in dialogue and direction of Union premature and not correct as the Moscow Patriarchate was yet to properly have a formal condemnation of Metropolitan Sergius and steer fully clear of Ecumenism. When the eve of May 17th 'Acts of Canonical Union' was arriving in 2007, and after some months of being a Non Commemorator in ROCA, Bishop Agafangel decided to sever Communion with the Holy Synod of ROCOR and took steps to gather other Bishops and Priests and collectivize a Formal Synod in an effort to continue ROCA. So in 2007, and after being elected the new First Hierarch, and Metropolitan Agafangel began to lead the newly collectivized ROCOR Agafangel Synod. Today, ROCOR Agafangel has been very far reaching in terms of Churches and Parishes they hold in multiple Nations such as Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Holy Land, Cyprus, Macedonia, Serbia, Moldova, Romania, Germany, France, America, Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Australia, Philippines, and Malasyia.
